Frida Kahlo was a Mexican painter famous for her self-portraits that deal with the themes of identity, the human body, pain, passion, and death. Her artwork is distinct in that it brought attention to indigenous culture and the female experience and form. Overcoming many challenging life obstacles, she used her art to express her emotions and beliefs. To this day, she inspires artist to express themselves through art.
