Believed to have originated in China as early as 1120 CE, dominoes are tiles that, like playing cards, can be used to play a wide variety of games. Make your own set, learn some of the traditional games, and make up your own game!

DOMINOES

The traditional domino is a rectangular tile with a line dividing its face into two square ends that are marked with a number of spots (also called pips, nips, or dobs).

Domino tiles can be made of wood, bone, plastic and paper, in different shapes, and with different graphic elements. Check out the gallery for some examples.

Make your own set. Explore the tremendous variety of games, and create your own game.

Paper dominoes are great because you can carry them with you anywhere.

Use thicker stock paper like index cards, cardboard, or chipboard paper (like cereal boxes).
